MagicFest Leadership CORE & Players Tour Judge (January to April)

Experienced team members capable of leading on the MagicFest floor are crucial to running an excellent event, and CFB Events is excited to invite you to join our onsite leadership team.  This application covers MagicFest leadership and Players Tour judge positions over a four month period and provides more stability and predictability for these positions from January through April 2020. Please take note that ALL leadership positions at MagicFests and floor judge positions at Players Tours will be filled through this CORE application; there will NOT be an opportunity to apply for these positions through the individual event applications.

This Leadership application will close at 11:59 PM (23:59) PDT on Monday, October 28th.

This application offers the option of confirming TWO days at the leadership pay rate and ONE day at the standard for each event. If you are only available for two days, that’s not a problem; just apply for two days, and you will still be eligible for leadership compensation for those two days. For MagicFest+ Brussels and Phoenix two, three and four day acceptances are available with the default being 3 day acceptances with two days leading, but some judges will be accepted for 3 days leading.

If we can’t bring you on for a specific MagicFest through this application, we would still like to encourage you to apply through the event specific application!

Culturally, leadership is more than a title and level. As a leader at a CFBE event, you are expected to invest in your team members, collaborating with them, helping one another to grow and to gain the valuable experience that each MagicFest offers.  

Part and parcel with cultural leadership are the tasks and duties required of leaders at a CFBE event.  As part of our leadership team you may be asked to:

• Team Lead or Floor Judge the Players Tour

• Team Lead on the Grand Prix (e.g. pairings, slips, floor management, deck checks, end of round, breaks)

• Lead on Side Events (e.g. Schedule Events Lead, On-Demand Events Lead, Kickstarter Lead)

• Head Judge side events

• Floor judge on the Grand Prix or Side Events when not in a lead position
  

• Fill in wherever the team needs you

The Leadership Team at CFBE Events have a typical shift time of 10-12 hours  There is a one hour lunch and at least one additional break during your shift.

We are happy to offer Leaders who join our onsite team through this application the following compensation rates (this does not include Thursday Set-Up). Please note that default compensation rates include booster display boxes from the most recent Standard set. Successful applicants may select an all-monetary option prior to each MagicFest you attend if that is prefered. Compensation rates that do not include boxes are listed in brackets after the default rates.

Monetary compensation for events outside of the US may be converted from USD into local currencies at the Google exchange rate. Please note that the conversion rate will be locked in three (3) weeks prior to the event. Contractors may choose to keep the payment in USD or request any other currency available through PayPal; all payments for events or contractors outside of the United States will be processed through PayPal.   Payment for US Contractors at US events will be by Check.

A survey to accepted staff will be sent out seven (7) weeks prior to each event. That survey will allow you to:

• Request scheduling options.
• Elect to take the all monetary option.
• Select the currency you would like to receive your PayPal payment in.

Please remember that failure to fill out this survey will result in the default compensation of boxes and in the local currency.

Leaders selected through this application are also able to apply for Thursday Set-Up at the standard setup rate described in each event's solicitation..

All team members are independent contractors and are required to complete appropriate tax paperwork and a contract with either CFB Events, tournamentcenter, or both.

This paperwork must be filled out PRIOR to each individual MagicFest.
